Meet Kay,
Hair Stylist, Color Specialist, Hair Extensions and Hair Restoration, and Women’s Wigs:
Kay specializes in hair coloring and cutting and has more than 15 years of experience in the industry and started working at KingsHead in 2000. One of her skills is working with hair extensions and wigs for women. Giving women the freedom to have any hairstyle they wish with the most natural look available today.  A graduate of Moraine Park Technical College’s Cosmetology School, Fond du Lac, she does the hair styling on hair transplant patients after surgery to help them obtain the fuller look they desire. She’s been a hair stylist in both Fond du Lac and Milwaukee and has taught hair coloring after being trained in New York City on new coloring techniques.  Kay manages the educational events on hair extensions at the KingsHead.

Looking at current trends, Kay sees bright hair colors coming back, including more fashion colors such as reds and violets. She also sees more men getting their hair colored because of a greater concern for their physical appearance and a greater acceptance of fashionable hair colors. And baby boomers want to blend their gray away, she says.

She also sees longer hair for men, with a more casual, wash-and-go look, compared to the recent trend for “super short” hair. According to Kay, men want haircuts to match their personalities.

Meet Jane,
Hair Stylist and Women’s Wigs:
Jane is an industry veteran with many years of exceptional hair cutting and styling experience. She’s started at the KingsHead in 1992. She specializes in fitting women’s wigs for cancer patients experiencing hair loss. Prior to coming to KingsHead she taught at a local beauty school and worked for and managed several other salons. She is a graduate of State College of Beauty Culture, which was located in Wauwatosa.

Jane says she’s committed to keeping up-to-date and offering new services to our clientele. To do so she has taken a number of professional development classes on hair cutting and coloring, as well as management classes. She says she is a “people person” who loves what she is doing. She says her co-workers are all like family. “We all work great together,” she adds.

Like all of the KingsHead staff, Jane is customer-oriented and is dedicated to filling her clients’ needs. According to her, casual, chunky hairstyles with spots and panels of color are currently in vogue for women. Men, she says, are into a more tapered hair look with more color highlights. “They want to wash away the gray giving them a more youthful look. They want to look and feel good, “ she says.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Jane is married. “My family and my home are my hobbies,” she says.

Meet Bob,
Hair Stylist / Barber:
Bob has been at KingsHead for almost as long the founding partners have been. He’s a veteran employee with more than 30 years with KingsHead and can comment wisely about the importance of employee retention. “Its been excellent here,” he says. “We have employees who have been with us for about 17 years. The national average duration of employment in our industry is 18 months. Our clients like this because they have a consistent and ongoing relationship with our people. We significantly beat that average because we, as employees, are treated very well here and always attend regular in-house seminars to keep us up to date. Professionalism is a way of life here.” Prior to joining the organization, he sold barber supplies for 11 years.

A Milwaukee native, Bob is a graduate of MATC’s Barber School. His specialties include cutting men’s hair, hair coloring and servicing hairpieces. “Over my 25 years, I’ve seen hair length for men vary from shorter to longer,” he says. “Most of my clients now want shorter hair, and a versatile cut, allowing them to look more business-like during the day and more casual for evenings out. And the older ones want coloring to get their gray out. Others are buying more hair replacements, including the state of the art, Cyberhair. They want to look younger to hang on to their jobs or find new ones.”

Bob’s hobbies include coin collecting, and taking car trips “to watch the world go by.” He also enjoys watching comedians on TV.

Meet Patty,
Hair Replacement and Hair Cutting Specialist:
When Patty graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College's (MATC) barbering and cosmetology program in 1989, she immediately started her career at KingsHead and has been here ever since, specializing in hair replacement. Initially, she washed and restyled hairpieces, but today does hair weaves, bonds, etc. Over the years, she’s attended technical, business and industry seminars with the company’s owners. She’s attended Cyberhair classes in Minnesota and Chicago, and has participated in hair replacement classes at American Hair Loss Association shows. Because of her extensive education, Patty trains co-workers in her specialties. She also cuts the hair of customers of both sexes and also does coloring.

“What makes us stand out,” she says, “is our commitment. We really care about our customers and listen carefully to their wants and needs. We know, too, that they value their privacy so we provide private, comfortable rooms, each with a sink.”
Patty observes that more balding young men want to wear hair replacements, receive a hair transplant, or use Propecia to keep the hair they already have. “The technology that created Cyberhair has helped balding men maintain a more natural hair replacement look for a longer period of time,” she says.

Patty is married and a mom. "We enjoy traveling, primarily to Mexico, where my husband was born. We love the Mexican culture.”

She’s a resident of Milwaukee and attended University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee…...

Meet Ashley,
Hair Stylist and Hair Support Specialist:
Ashley is an experienced KingsHead employee, specializing in our new hair support program as well as hair styling. She has been a stylist at KingsHead for both men and women since 1993.  Her work includes hair cutting, coloring, and hairpiece work. Her hair support treatments for those losing their hair involve creating an ideal environment for healthy hair growth.

“Since we started offering hair support treatments I’ve seen fantastic results-- healthy hair, better growth of existing hair, and new hair growth. By unplugging hair follicles and cleansing the scalp, we get optimum conditions for healthy hair. Our regimen includes treatments at our offices once a week for four weeks and then a at home program to be followed for 30 days. To begin, we give two aggressive shampoos. Then we dry the hair and apply a professional hair support product. Then we use a steamer that helps open cuticles for better penetration and follow that with a TapJoy that massages as well. After that we use a suction vacuum to suction the treatment off and follow it with two more shampoos and a hair conditioner.”

Ashley got her initial training at the Eric of Norway Beauty School in Milwaukee. Prior to joining us she worked for a distributor of hair salon products.

Meet Judy,
Hair Stylist and Color Specialist:
Judy, who specializes in hair coloring, is a widely experienced stylist who started working at KingsHead in 1986. Judy has a knack for teaching and has taught hair color, perms and product knowledge to professional hair care people for the Redken Co. A graduate of MATC’s barber and cosmetology program, Judy also earned her instructor’s license there. She works with an in-salon education here and has taught part-time at the MATC program.

In addition to hair coloring, she cuts the hair of both male and female customers and provides them texture services. “I love meeting and talking to them and learning about them,” she says. “This enables me to act as a change agent--changing their existing appearance and making them feel better about themselves.”
Current trends that Judy has observed recently include unstructured haircuts and styling. “There’s much use of razors and texture shears because they take one’s old and basic shape and make it look different by texturing it….and when you color it will accent the hair cut.” She’s seeing more noticeable dimensional panels of color. “And baby boomers with gray hair are coloring it. They’re afraid of corporate downsizing and want a younger look.”

Judy enjoys and appreciates our training philosophy and professional atmosphere. In addition to technical courses, she and other employees have taken human relations, public speaking, and customer service and management courses.

Meet Jenny,
Hair Stylist, Micro Point Link Technician and Pedicurist:
Jenny graduated from MATC’s beauty school and is a full time licensed hair stylist at KingsHead since 2006.  Jenny spends her time between hair styling, Micro Point Link and Pedicure work.  She was trained in Micro Point Link and became a certified technician. Micro Point Link work involves taking one strand of a customer’s real hair and knotting four synthetic hairs (Cyberhair) to the real hair. “It’s very detailed work and I’m a perfectionist, but it increases the density of hair.”

Jenny loves working at KingsHead, because of its customer-orientation philosophy, “Here each stylist has a private room.  We can hone in easily to our customer’s needs.
